UN’s Mediator of Jerusalem to LOC Observers.

According to a news report, UN military observers made a narrow escape when Indian troops opened fire on an UNMOGIP vehicle carrying Major Emmanual of the Philippines and Major Mirko of Croatia at LOC. India has challenged the authority of UNMOGIP from the beginning, while the United Nations remains quite helpless in the region. Much like 1948, when its mediator, Folke Bernadotte, was killed by Irgun, a Zionist radical group that was spearheaded by Yitzhak Shamir, who later became Israel's prime minister, the UN cannot seem to be in a position to deal with such challenges. I, therefore, believe that the UN observers in Kashmir were quite lucky. Otherwise, they would only have been remembered by their loved ones, though their killers might have become prime ministers of their country.
